On Friday, The County of Peterborough held an official ceremony to announce the completion for the road upgrades project at County Road 40. M.P. Dean Del Mastro, Warden Ron Gerow and Asphodel-Norwood Reeve Doug Pearcy are pleased to see the completion of the project which was funded with federal gas tax funding.

The project consisted of the widening of County Road 40, turn lanes, construction of a section of the road to urban design standards with curb and gutters through a portion of the Village of Norwood, and application of new asphalt. The work also involved coordination with the Township of Asphodel-Norwood as new municipal services were installed within the road allowance.

“I am pleased to recognize the completion of the County Road 40 Project made possible through Federal Gas Tax Revenues." said Dean Del Mastro, Member of Parliament for Peterborough Riding. "From 2005 through 2010, the County of Peterborough will realize $4.3 million in support from the Federal Gas Tax and improvements such as these can only strengthen the infrastructure of our community as we build towards a bright and successful future."

“The County of Peterborough is committed to providing safe and up-to-date roads” said Warden Gerow. “The improvements to this road are an exciting move forward in our commitment, and we are thrilled that the federal government has stepped up to take part in funding this necessary project.”

“The County Road 40 project has enabled our Township to complete some important infrastructure upgrades and as well has greatly improved the curb appeal of a large part of our community. Working with the County of Peterborough with the financial assistance of the federal government has been a pleasurable and rewarding experience for our municipality” said Asphodel-Norwood Reeve Doug Pearcy.
