County Road 32/Nassau Mills Road was dedicated today in honour of war veterans at a ceremony that took place at the Lakefield Legion. The ceremony was attended by MPP Jeff Leal, County Warden Ron Gerow, City of Peterborough Mayor Paul Ayotte and many other local dignitaries. Also in attendance were many local war veterans including local long-time proponent of the project, Capt. (Ret'd) Gary D. Smith (pictured above).

"Canada remains "strong and free" because of the many sacrifices made by our veterans and their families. It is an honour to attend the Dedication Ceremony today to pay tribute to our Canadian heroes." stated Dean Del Mastro, Member of Parliament for Peterborough Riding.

“The County is so very proud of our local war veterans and heroes” said Warden Gerow. “We are so pleased to have the opportunity to recognize and thank them for their contributions to our area and our country by dedicating this roadway in their honour”.

"Residents of the County and City have a long tradition of serving our Country in times of conflict” said Mayor Ayotte. “I am pleased to be here today as we recognize their tremendous contributions in this small way. As people enjoy this pleasant drive along the river and view these signs, I hope they will think of those who, through their sacrifice, made it possible".

“This road will be a lasting testament to those brave men and women who have made the supreme sacrifice” said MPP Jeff Leal.
