MP Dean Del Mastro extends deadline for 2008 MP’s Community Calendar Contest
November 15, 2007

Peterborough, ON - Dean Del Mastro, Member of Parliament for Peterborough Riding would like to announce that he is extending the deadline for entries for the 2008 MP’s Community Calendar Contest.

As 2007 comes to an end and we all begin to plan for 2008, the MP’s Office has begun work on a yearly calendar that will be sent to each constituent as a thank you and a way to stay in touch with the MP’s office and their representative of federal government. Last year, the office was pleased to deliver a 2007 Calendar to over 54,000 constituents that featured various photographs of significant locations or landmarks in and around the Peterborough Riding. This year, Dean would like to request the assistance of our Riding’s students in the production of our 2008 MP’s Community Calendar by way of a very special contest.

Dean would like to invite all elementary school children 12 years of age and under to submit a drawing to be included in the 2008 MP’s Community Calendar. We are looking for a total of 13 drawings – one for each month of the year and one for the front cover. The theme of the contest is “What I love about my community”!

All entries must be received at our office by Thursday, November 22, 2007 where they will be judged by a panel of local media personalities. The winners will have their drawing reproduced in the calendar and each winner would also receive a personalized, signed commemorative scroll as well as a junior art kit to help them expand and explore their creativity. Just before the new year, over 55,000 calendars will be delivered to each constituent in the Peterborough Riding, featuring the winning drawings in the calendar format. In addition, the winning drawings will also be posted on our website at www.deandelmastro.ca. In order to recognize all the contributors, a personalized, signed commemorative scroll will be sent to each and every student that submits a drawing.

Here is what is required:

  • the contest is open to all students 12 years of age and under
  • drawing must be no bigger than 8 1/2 inches by 11 inches and landscape format is preferred
  • the theme is… “What I love about my community!” in a seasonal drawing
  • colour drawings are accepted, but they will be reproduced in the calendar in black and white
  • on the back of your drawing, please clearly print your name, school, grade, home mailing address and home phone number
