Born and raised in Peterborough, Ontario, Dean Del Mastro was elected as Member of Parliament for the Peterborough Riding on January 23, 2006 and is currently in his third term as Member of Parliament.
Dean attended the University of Windsor where he earned his Honours Bachelor of Commerce. Dean's personal life, collegiate career and business experience are indicative of the dedication and drive he brings to Parliament.
Since Dean's campaign culminated in his election to office on January 23, 2006, he has been appointed as a member for many Standing Committees, they include;
- Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage
- Standing Committee on Finance
- Standing Committee on National Defence
- Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development
- Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics
- Standing Joint Committee on Scrutiny of Regulations
In November of 2008, Dean was named Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Canadian Heritage, the Honourable James Moore, as well as to the Minister of Sport the Honourable Gary Lunn. Following the General Election in May of 2011, Dean was named Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister.
Dean is also proud to serve on many of the Caucus groups that deal with issues of the day. Dean is the Chair of the All Party Rail Caucus, Co-Chair of the Canada / US Inter-parliamentary group, Vice-Chair of the Canada-Italy Inter-Parliamentary Group, Member in Good Standing of the Outdoors Caucus and also Vice-Chair of the Auto Caucus. Dean is hard-working and impressive in his committee work tempering his passion with common sense and practicality.
Dean continues to proudly serve the Riding of Peterborough and recently has had a string of impressive announcements ranging from affordable housing to commuter rail. Dean and his wife Kelly were married in 1996 and live in Peterborough.
