Protecting You and the Economy

June 2009

Dear Constituent,

The weather is getting warmer, the plants greener, and it won't be long before the kids are out of school - this can only mean one thing - Summer is on its way!

It also means that it has been over 4 months since Stephen Harper announced the
Economic Action Plan. So I thought I'd give you an update on its progress.

Below I've provided some information about a few of the programs as well as a
new initiative designed to protect consumers who use credit cards.

Our government wants to make sure that everyone is treated fairly by credit card companies. We're proposing new rules that will guarantee minimum 21 day grace periods and lower interest costs.

If you have any questions or wish to share your thoughts, please never hesitate to get in touch with me.

All the best,

-
Dean

Taking Action on the Economy

Creating Jobs, Building Infrastructure:
Our government is using every tool at our disposal to protect the jobs, savings, and retirements of Canadians. We're acting to counter the effects of the global recession at home while working internationally to ensure a quick return to long-term prosperity.

Empowering Consumers who use Credit Cards:
Through Canada’s Economic Action Plan, we are helping consumers by mandating a 21-day grace period on new purchases made with credit cards during the month, when a full payment is made at the end of that month.
