The Honourable Gary Goodyear, Member of Parliament for Cambridge-North Dumfries, welcomed news that Canada’s Conservative government is accepting funding applications for community-based projects under the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP).
“I encourage all local organizations dedicated to improving the well being of Cambridge-North Dumfries seniors to apply for these funding opportunities. This is a great program that ensures caregivers and administrators have the resources they need to get the job done”, said Minister Goodyear.
The NHSP IS a federal grants and contributions program that promotes volunteerism, mentoring, elder abuse awareness and social participation, as well as provides capital assistance for new or existing projects and programs for seniors.
Previous Cambridge-North Dumfries NHSP recipients include Langs Farm Village which received $10,000 in new funding to purchase and replace existing equipment like computers and software, so seniors could better participate in healthy living programs.
The deadline for applications is September 16, 2011. For more information please call 1-800-277-9914 or visit www.hrsdc.gc.ca/seniors.
