(PETERBOROUGH, ON) Dean Del Mastro, Member of Parliament for Peterborough, is featured on the cover of the latest edition of “Interchange”, the Official
Publication of the Railway Association of Canada (RAC). The cover story is titled “Del Mastro Speaks Up in Parliament: Conservative MP is a champion for rail transportation”.
MP Del Mastro has been a strong advocate for rail since being elected in 2006, recognizing that it is essential to both strong economies and stable environments. “Moving to rail unclogs our highways, eliminates destructive emissions and creates jobs. When Canadians choose rail, they choose to go green”; states MP Del Mastro, who is chair of the all-party Parliamentary Rail Caucus.
MP Del Mastro’s support of the rail industry has not gone unnoticed. “The railway industry is highly appreciative of parliamentarians such as Dean Del Mastro, who, time and again, make the case for rail as a safe, smart and environmentally friendly engine of Canada’s economy,” said Bruce Burrows, RAC’s vice president, corporate and public affairs.
Del Mastro is committed to continuing to lobby for a greater place for rail in the Canadian economy.
“Our goal is to promote awareness of the economic importance of rail transportation...
Canadian railways are an economic engine for the economy, moving 75 per cent of all freight while transporting 72 million passengers just last year.”
