In one very special event, held on September 14, MP Del Mastro had the privilege of welcoming the 4,500,000th visitor to the Canada Pavilion at Expo 2010. This represents an attendance record for Canada at an international exhibition.
“I am very pleased to welcome today our distinguished guest, Mr. Tian-shi Huang as the 4,500,000th visitor to the Canadian Pavilion.” stated MP Del Mastro. “The Canada Pavilion is projecting the image of a modern Canada to the minds and hearts of 4.5 million Chinese and foreign visitors. Our Government wanted a pavilion that showed what Canadians are like and reflected the importance we give to our relationship with China. We’ve achieved that objective.”
“The Canada Pavilion has just beaten its record for attendance at a world’s fair by welcoming a million more visitors than at Expo 2005 in Aichi, Japan,” said Minister Moore. “This achievement is evidence of Canada’s successful participation in the most popular international exhibition ever.”
Since its opening, the Canada Pavilion has been one of the most popular attractions at Expo 2010 in Shanghai. It has been filled close to capacity every day since Expo 2010 opened on May 1 and draws nearly 35,000 visitors daily.
