PETERBOROUGH, ON - Dean Del Mastro, Member of Parliament for Peterborough Riding was outraged today as the Liberal Party took it upon themselves to attack economic growth in his Riding of Peterborough as well as the character of one of his valued employees—Mr. Greg Gormick.

The Liberal party has actively worked since 2008 to try and discredit my work and the immense impor-tance of this project (Peterborough to Toronto Rail) to our entire region.‖ stated MP Del Mastro. ―Now they are shamefully working to discredit Greg Gormick, a person whose knowledge and understanding of the railroad industry is virtually un-rivaled in Canada - all in a desperate effort to try and block the re-introduction of passenger rail service and enhanced freight infrastructure to our region.

Working as a team with the support of Mr. Gormick’s vast knowledge we are currently making dramatic progress on the Peterborough—Toronto Rail project. Very shortly, we will be able to publish additional cost and benefit studies which will provide confidence on costs while at the same time highlighting all of the benefits of this crucial investment. To any fair-minded person this project will be seen as a responsi-ble and necessary investment which will benefit Peterborough and every Municipality along the line.‖ ―The Federal Liberals have a history of attacking this project and its economic benefit to our region. Ear-lier this summer, during his summer bus tour - Michael Ignatieff stopped in Peterborough and made it clear that he did not support the re-introduction of passenger rail and in September of 2008, Liberal MP Martha Hall Findlay stated that the project was a "pork barrelling idea" and infrastructure money should go where the "biggest needs are," - does that sound like they have the best interests of our local econ-omy at heart?‖ questioned MP Del Mastro. ―What is truly a waste is the time and money the Federal Liberal Party is dedicating to discredit a gentle-man like Greg Gormick. Greg is being attacked because of his work in establishing the Shining Waters Railway Authority, Michael Ignatieff and Peter Donolo should be ashamed of themselves.
