On Wednesday, January 23, 2008, the Peterborough Memorial Centre was alive with excitement as MP Dean Del Mastro and his Conservative All-Stars took on the United Way All-Stars team in an action-packed game all in support of the Peterborough and District United Way.
MP's from across Canada laced up their skates to face the United Way All-Star Team of NHL Alumni, local celebrities and business leaders. The game was dedicated to the memory of the Late Mr. Tony McMillan, Dean's Legislative Assistant that passed away suddenly on January 2, 2008. While the United Way All-Stars won the game with a final score of 11 - 10, the United Way was the big winner of the night - accepting a cheque from the teams in the amount of $40,000.00.
Also presented to the United Way was a cheque in the amount of $3572.00 from the Friends of Tony McMillan. A special thanks to all the players, sponsors, media, spectators, volunteers and everyone that helped to make the event a great success.
