Peterborough, ON - The Honourable Alice Wong, Minister of State (Seniors), took part in pre-budget roundtable discussions today with seniors' stakeholders from the Peterborough Riding. The event was part of a series of cross-Canada consultations on how best to ensure that Canada's economy continues to produce jobs and growth in a difficult global economy.
"Ensuring our economic growth and creating jobs now and in the future remains our government's number-one priority," said Minister of State Wong. "We want to hear from Canadians about moving ahead with Budget 2012, the next phase of Canada's Economic Action Plan."
"I am pleased that Minister of State Wong is here to consult our community," said Dean Del Mastro, Member of Parliament for Peterborough and Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister. "This is our opportunity to contribute to government policy discussions for the next federal budget."
To ensure that all Canadians can participate in this process, the Government has also launched online pre-budget consultations. Those wishing to make submissions can do so by visiting http://www.fin.gc.ca/prebudget-prebudgetaire/1-eng.asp
