Statement by MP Dean Del Mastro

In 2008, you re-elected me to represent Peterborough in the House of Commons.

My expenses for that campaign followed the rules. The paperwork was fully disclosed, audited, and certified by Elections Canada.

As many of you will have heard, Elections Canada is currently looking into a complaint relating to my 2008 campaign. Elections Canada has a responsibility to ensure that elections in Canada are fair. In this case, their job is to follow up on false complaints from a disgruntled former supplier who sued me unsuccessfully.

While this is not an easy time for me or for my family, I will be fully exonerated.

In the meantime, I plan to stay focused on representing and working for you, the people of Peterborough, in the best way that I can. I look forward to seeing you at events throughout the region this summer.
